It’s been a hot beautiful summer here in the Pacific Northwest which means berries are ripe and ready for picking much earlier than usual. The clouds rolled in today, so my kids and I seized the moment and headed for the hills (Snohomish actually) to pick some fresh blueberries. And what beautiful blue beauties we picked!

This was the first time I’ve gone berry picking with my kids, so I was unsure if they’d like it. What a success! They loved it. We all enjoyed being outside and filling our buckets one glorious juicy blueberry at a time. I was surprised how quickly we picked over 5 lbs of fresh blueberries. That’s plenty for my small freezer.

We went to Blueberry Blossom Farm – a small family-owned blueberry farm in Snohomish. It was delightful and I highly recommend it if you’re in the area. Check http://www.blueberryblossomfarm.com for more information and berry picking times.

Our car ride home was filled with talk about all the things we’ll make with our berries – blueberry pancakes, blueberry sauce, blueberry crisp, blueberry pie… So glad I discovered this place and its little bundles of blue gold.
